Welcome to the Early Childhood Department. Research shows a strong connection between high-quality early childhood programs and later success in school. Children who begin school at age 4 do better in class, stay in school longer, and have a greater chance for success. The Jefferson Parish Public School System Early Childhood Department will provide foundational experiences to help your child become a successful life-long learner.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN
Registration for 2012-2013 School Year
Registration for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes will begin on the same date as registration for all other grade levels, July 23, 2012. Our district is facing serious budget challenges and intends to submit the 2012/13 budget to the School Board for approval at its meeting on June 6, 2012. After the budget is approved, district personnel will know exactly how many pre-k classes can be offered and can provide the public accurate information before registration begins. This website will contain such information shortly after June 6th regarding the various locations throughout the district where pre-k registration will be held beginning July 23rd. Each elementary school will also have such information.
GUIDELINES
- Child must be four (4) years old on or before September 30, 2012.
- All accepted applicants must complete a lunch application.
- Select classes may be subject to a screening or tuition.
- Bus transportation will be provided for students within the school attendance zone.
- Before/After School Childcare may be available.
- Parents may register child at only ONE school site
ITEMS NEEDED FOR REGISTRATION
* Certified copy of the child’s birth certificate * Child’s social security card
* Child’s immunization record * Two proofs of residence
Ex. LA Driver’s License or LA State ID Card and a current utility bill and/or rental receipt or lease agreement
